The story follows Elena Altieri, a 66-year-old retired photographer who has spent more than forty years trying to leave her difficult past behind. During her younger years, Elena was part of New York City’s punk rock scene. That period of her life was marked by painful memories, including the death of her best friend, Sin, and the disappearance of other women.
Now living in Vermont, Elena is struggling with hearing problems and tinnitus. Her life takes an unexpected turn when photographs she took of a recently deceased musician become popular online. She is invited back to New York for an exhibition celebrating her work.
During the event, Elena begins hearing a woman’s screams. At first, she believes the sounds are caused by her hearing problems. However, the strange experiences continue, especially when she touches objects connected to Sin.
